A longtime Atlanta jeweler is opening a new location in downtown Lawrenceville on Tuesday.
Alexander’s of Atlanta Fine Diamonds will hold a ribbon-cutting at 11:45 a.m. for its new store at 193 E. Pike St. Mayor Judy Jordan Johnson, U.S. Rep. Rob Woodall, R-Ga., and First United Methodist Church of Lawrenceville Pastor the Rev. Royeese Stowe are expected to participate in the festivities.
“I like to say that Alexander’s of Atlanta Fine Diamonds is your hometown jeweler with the worldwide reach,” company president Jeff Alexander said in a statement. “We make regular trips to diamond dealers in Antwerp, Belgium, the Tahitian Pearl farmers in French Polynesia, as well as other jewelry manufacturing centers.
“Our selection is always changing to bring fresh new styles to our collection.”
Alexander’s of Atlanta originally opened in the Toco Hill Shopping Center in Atlanta in 1964 but began looking for a new location two years ago. That ultimately led it to downtown Lawrenceville in a location across the street from the Aurora Theatre.
Alexander’s is a full-service jewelry store that offers engagement rings as well as other jewelry that can either be custom-made or ready to wear. It also repairs jewelry. The shop holds American Gem Society accreditation.
While Jeff Alexander is a registered jeweler with the gem society, he also has an old connection to Lawrenceville: He’s a Central Gwinnett High School graduate.
The store will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.
